BARRANQUILLA +20

Barranquilla+20 is a youth-led and women-led non-governmental organization based in Barranquilla. Since 2012, we’ve been working on climate change, biodiversity, and water through strategic lines, and on cross-cutting themes like education, leadership, governance, and planning. We’re driven by learning from local knowledge and intergenerational equity to build territories and cities that are resilient and low in greenhouse gas emissions. Our initiatives have reached regions such as Orinoquía, the Caribbean, and South Pacific in Colombia. This experience is reflected in our support for youth and gender equality to effectively contribute to environmental policies at global, national, and local levels. The impact of Barranquilla+20 has been recognized both nationally and internationally, including receiving the National Youth Volunteering Award in 2014. Additionally, we were evaluated by the global youth organization “One Young World” in the One Young World Impact Report in 2017 and 2021.
