CIAM PANAMÁ

The Environmental Advocacy Center of Panama is a team of lawyers and environmental specialists founded in 2007 to pursue legal actions of public interest before national and international courts in pursuit of environmental justice. The organization defends the human right to a healthy environment, focuses on strategic litigation and environmental advocacy, and seeks to promote citizen participation. In addition, CIAM provides free legal assistance to the communities most vulnerable to environmental impacts and fights against environmental racism.

CIAM is known for defending Panama’s rivers and oceans, protected areas from predators, deforestation, agricultural expansion, and pesticide use, as well as the human right to water. It also seeks to raise environmental awareness among authorities, the Legislative Assembly, and in discussions of environmental laws.
